Finding a Baby Gate That Will Give You Peace of Mind

Written by Jennifer Traynor

When it comes to baby-proofing your home, one of the many items you will have to buy is a baby gate, and it’s most likely that you will buy more than one to use throughout your home.

Here are five great options of gates to use that can suit different areas of the house:

Summer Infant Stylish and Secure Deluxe Wood Stairway Gate: This is a wooden gate that is easy to assemble and includes a unique precision fit template to ensure accurate installation. It can expand from 30 inches to 48 inches wide.

Munchkin Wood Steel Gate: This gate can be used in doorways and at the top or bottom of stairs. It can swing open in either direction and the lock is designed for easy use for adults but difficult for a child.

Regalo Deluxe Easy Step Extra Tall Gate: This steel gate features a platinum finish, can expand from 29 inches to 37.5 inches wide and is 41 inches tall. It is pressure mounted, has a walk-through design and is equipped with a safety locking feature.

Summer Infant Metal Expansion 6-Foot Wide Walk-Thru Gate: If you have wider openings between rooms this is a good gate to get. It expands from 44 inches to 72 inches wide. There is a scratch guard on the bottom rail to prevent scratches on hardwood floors. It also features a secure, wall mounted design and a walk-through door.

Regalo Super Wide Gate and Play Yard: This gate gives you a great option for putting up across a large area as it can extend up to 192 inches. It includes eight removable and configurable panels and folds down easily for storage.

Before buying a gate take time to consider the areas of your home you will frequently be with your little one and if a barrier is needed in those parts of the house. Make sure you take measurements! As you can see from the examples above, there are a variety of gates in different sizes. And don’t be surprised if you find yourself later buying more gates as baby grows. In my home we started off with three gates and ended up later buying two more. As your little one gets bigger you might notice other areas of the home that you want to put a gate.
