The Ford Escape, For All The Places You’ll Go

Written by Alanna Schiffer

One of the main things on my wish list when I was looking for a new family vehicle was: something that can get us around the city easily, but will still be practical for our weekends out of town. After an in-depth search, it’s clear the 2020 Ford Escape is it. The new Escape meets the challenges of city driving (even though just saying those words makes car horns go off in my head), but has no problem transporting all the Very Important Stuff we need to bring with us to the cottage in the summer, or the ski resort in winter.

For city life, there’s Ford Co-Pilot360™. This is essentially the car’s standard driver-assist system, to give you information about your surroundings and help you stay aware of the other cars on the road. This advanced suite of driver-assist technologies includes BLIS® (Blind Spot Information System) with Cross-Traffic Alert, Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking, Auto High-Beam Headlamps, Lane-Keeping System, and Rear-View Camera. Things happen fast in the city, but the Ford Co-Pilot360™ helps me stay prepared.

There’s also available AWD (All Wheel Drive) Disconnect – the vehicle knows when All Wheel Drive isn’t needed and disconnects it, which can help to save on fuel and energy. And don’t forget available Active Park Assist 2.0 – possibly my favourite feature. When Active Park Assist is engaged, my car practically parks and un-parks itself! All steering, shifting, brake and accelerator controls are performed by the system. I can’t get over this, it’s very impressive.

So what about when we want to Escape the city? The first thing we do is load up our Ford Escape with all our luggage and gear, and for that, the cargo space and Sliding Second Row Seats come in very handy.  Available All Wheel Drive and AWD Disconnect help manage varying terrain, and Selectable Drive Modes help with all kinds of road conditions (unpredictable weather doesn’t have to mean a bumpy ride). I can’t say going on long drives is my kids’ favourite thing to do, but with the Ford Escape, it’s much easier on us all.

If your driving life is like my family’s, then the 2020 Ford Escape should be at the top of your list.

The completely redesigned Escape was designed, engineered and built for a life in motion. From the spacious new interior to the sleek, head-turning lines of the exterior, the 2020 Ford Escape was built for adventure on the road and a lifestyle on the go.
